Double intussusception in a Shih-tzu puppy

Abstract

|
A three-month-old intact female Shih-tzu presented to our hospital with a 5-day history of anorexia, depression, vomiting and diarrhea which had become more severe. During physical examination a tender mass was palpable in the left mid-abdomen. Plain radiographs showed areas of reduced serosa detail and of increased soft tissue opacity in the left mid-abdomen. At the time celiotomy was performed, the abnormality had a double intussusception in ascending colon. The patient was successfully treated by partial resection and anastomosis.
